1️⃣ What It Really Takes to Become an SVP from Middle Management [Spotify | Apple]
2️⃣ The Future of Revenue Management with Klaus Kohlmayr [Spotify | Apple]

Thank you to those that participated in Sunday’s survey. It is still open for those that are interested in contributing. As mentioned on my LinkedIn post, once we hit 100 responders, we will randomly select one person to interview Sloan on a future podcast episode. To be entered, please ensure you include your email address in the form.

Here’s what the survey results from 60 people tells us.

🔥 What people most want to learn about

  1. The aftermath of AI tools in hotels → By far the biggest interest. People want clarity on how AI is changing operations, guest experience, and jobs.

  2. Leadership advice → There’s a strong appetite for personal growth and guidance at the management level.

  3. Building executive presence → Closely tied to leadership; people want to stand out as senior leaders.

  4. Business strategy and decision-making under pressure → A clear demand for learning to navigate complexity and uncertainty.

  5. Current headlines → Professionals want timely updates, not just evergreen leadership content.

🟡 Mid-level interests

  • New hotel management companies being formed → There is curiosity about new hotel management companies forming.

  • Guest experience innovation → Still important, but not the top priority. We hypothesize it’s because recent episodes have touched a lot on guest experience innovation.

  • Contrarian / hot takes → People want bold, fresh perspectives, not just “safe” content.

  • Inflation’s impact and People & culture → These are important but sit below the leadership/AI cluster.

🔵 Lower priority

  • Wellness & fitness → This was least relevant to the group, despite wellness being trendy in hospitality and hospitality marketing.

💡 What’s not obvious but worth pointing out

  • “Leadership” + “AI” is the intersection people care about most. The top results aren’t just about technology or people separately — they show professionals want to know how AI changes leadership, decision-making, and executive presence. This suggests a unique positioning opportunity: helping leaders adapt their leadership style to an AI-driven industry.

  • “Risk” and “resilience” are a quiet theme. “Decision-making under uncertainty,” “being underestimated,” and “how to prioritize when everything feels urgent” are all high on the list. That hints at a workforce feeling stretched thin, wanting tools to manage stress and complexity.

  • Interest in “Event/conference recovery” is low. Given how big events are in hospitality revenue, the fact that few people picked it suggests they either feel it’s stabilizing already — or they’ve shifted attention to bigger systemic forces (like AI, strategy, inflation).
